INGRAW2011 will be held at University Conference Hall (Dewan Persidangan Universiti, DPU), Universiti Sains Malaysia. The event will start on 9 a.m of 11th October 2011. Please register yourself at the registration counter in front of the main conference room. Registration counter will be open at 8.30 a.m.

Please be ensure that you have pay the registration fees. You may collect you receipt from the secretariat at the registration counter.

Certificate will only be issued on 12th October 2011. Therefore, do attend the workshop for both days.

About INGRAW

Introduction and Objective

The 6th ISDEV International Graduate Workshop (INGRAW 2011) is the sixth of a series initiative to encourage related research in Islamic dimension. It is a continuity of the 5th ISDEV Graduate Workshop that was jointly organized by Centre for Islamic Development Management Studies (ISDEV)  and Institute Postgraduate Studies (IPS) on 11-12 October 2011.

This annual event aims to;
  1. Provide a platform for post-graduate students from all over the world are doing Islamic-based research  to present their works for discussion and evaluation.
  2. Provide wider opportunities to academicians and post-graduate students to interact openly and build  networking.

    Who Should Attend?
    1. Those who plan to pursue studies at Master or PhD level in any fields with special reference to Islamic perspectives.
    2. Those who are currently a post-graduate students and conducting Islamic-based research in any field of study
    3. Those who have completed studies at Master or PhD level in year of 2010 or 2011 in any Islamic-based fields
    4. Thesis supervisors, lecturers and anyone who is interested

    Presenter

    Paper presenter  can be anyone of the first three categories only. However, lecturer cum supervisor of a thesis can participate in the workshop as a participant. This is  to allow those in the first three categories to experience writing, though could guided by their supervisors, and presenting their papers independently in an international academic gathering.

    Workshop Procedures
    1. Paper submitted to the workshop must be original and have not been submitted, presented or published in any other academic meetings  and publications.
    2. Abstract and full paper must be sent via email. Acceptance of the paper will also be sent via the same.
    3. The length of the full paper must not exceed 15 single space pages, excluding tables and figures. The typeface used should be Times New Roman font 12pt (APA Format)  with 1 inch margin on the left of the page.
    4. The title page must clearly indicates.

      Each paper may be commented by an experienced lecturer to assist author in improving his/her writing.

      Transportation

      Arrival by Air

      Penang is easily accessible by air with daily flights from major capitals in the region. The Bayan Lepas International Airport is situated about 10 km and 20 km from Universiti Sains Malaysia main campus in Minden and the City Centre, respectively. Taxis plying the route operate a coupon system by which fares between the airport and various destinations in Penang are fixed. Passengers pay the fare at the taxi booth in exchange for a coupon which they then produce to the taxi driver. Air conditioned taxis and limousines charge slightly higher fares. Fares to the Minden campus for the airport range between USD4 during the day to USD5 at night.

      Arrival by Road

      You can get to the island using the ferry service or by the Penang Bridge.

      By Ferry
      You can take the ferry service of the island from Butterworth on the mainland. The ferry service is available round the clock for both pedestrians and vehicles. Tickets are purchased at the Butterworth terminal and the rates are applied for a return journey. Fares: Adult – USD0.10;Children – USD0.05. The rates charged for vehicles are based on the engine capacity of the car and the number of passengers. Cars below 1200cc – USD1; Cars above 1200cc – USD1.50. Once you have reached the island you can take a taxi or bus to the Minden campus. The taxi fare from the ferry terminal on the island to the campus is about USD5.

      By the Penang Bridge
      A charge of USD2 is levied on all classes of cars at the toll plaza in Perai on the mainland. If you travel by coach or bus, the charge is absorbed by the bus operator. No payment is required for travelling from the island to the mainland. If you travel by bus, you will pass the Minden campus and alight at a nearby town called Gelugor. Although Gelugor is within walking distance to the University, you may want to hire a taxi, which is readily available, to take you into the campus area which is vast and hilly.
